Why do we buy online courses?

We live in the age of information. We are fortunate to have access to an immense amount of knowledge for free thanks to the internet. So why are people still interested in paying for online courses?

Each person is different, but we give you 4 reasons why online courses are purchased.

    1- Organized information

As we have already said, on the Internet there is an infinity of content in different formats and accessible for free, but accessing all of them and, above all, assessing whether they are correct and relevant knowledge, requires a time that many people don't want to invest. This is where the role of the trainer comes in. Online courses allow gathering, managing and shaping all this available information so that it is easier and faster for the student to consume. This allows people to save time and learn better.

    2- Different ways of learning

There are people who learn by reading books or attending a course, others through blog articles or Twitter threads. Not all people learn in the same way. We are talking about learnability. People who take online courses are usually people who need some kind of tutoring or people who are more motivated to learn if they have invested in a course (accountability).

    3- It offers added value

It is something that we have already seen in previous points, but we want to highlight it as a separate point. Online courses are not only knowledge transformed into easy-to-consume video capsules, but they also offer additional valuable content that allows the training to be much more complete. For example, exercises, evaluations, projects, tutorials or consultancies. Online courses allow you to reduce the number of participants and personalize the training, something that most free content cannot offer.

    4- Access to experts

They want access to the expertise of a professional they already know. The trainer offers his community resources and shares his knowledge and way of working. They also can access the professional through forums or tutorials, and meet other people in the community with similar concerns. Some professionals working in B2B, create training to offer those small and medium-sized companies similar services, but in a standardized and more affordable format.

As you can see, online courses will never go out of style, but to be relevant to your potential customers it is important to offer added value to the product.
